The Sentry Brings Aboard OFAC Corruption and Human Rights Targeting Chief Joshua White as Director of Policy and Analysis

Washington, DC – The Sentry is pleased to announce its new Director of Policy and Analysis, Joshua White.

White joins The Sentry after eight years with the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), where he was most recently the first Chief for Human Rights and Corruption in its targeting division.

John Prendergast, Co-founder of The Sentry and Founding Director of the Enough Project, said: “Joshua has had a distinguished career at the Treasury Department, and has been a leader at OFAC on measures to counter the kleptocracy and corruption that so often fuels war and mass atrocities. He is a key addition to our team at The Sentry and will be a powerful asset in our ongoing ‘follow-the-money’ investigations into some of the world’s deadliest conflicts.”

Joshua White, Director of Policy and Analysis at The Sentry, said: “I’m thrilled to join The Sentry’s team of talented and dedicated professionals in their dynamic approach to combating violent kleptocracy in Central and East Africa. I look forward to working alongside my new colleagues to disrupt the illicit financial activities of those responsible for human rights abuses and their supporters.”

During his time at OFAC, White worked on nearly every sanctions program administered by the United States government and led the team of investigators responsible for collecting information and building designation packages targeting persons for designation under relevant sanctions authorities.

White also served as the first Senior Sanctions Coordinator for the Near East, and spent a year in Treasury’s Office of Terrorist Financing and Financial Crimes as its Policy Advisor for Afghanistan, India, and Nepal.

The Sentry’s current Director of Policy, Brad Brooks-Rubin, will now serve as The Sentry and Enough Project’s Managing Director.
