AFP: Clooney Anti-corruption Group Blasts N Korea Contracts In DR Congo

The Sentry anti-corruption group co-founded by Hollywood star George Clooney urged Congolese authorities Wednesday to “annul” contracts with local companies controlled by North Korean citizens apparently flouting international sanctions.

“Don’t think for a second that corruption and money laundering in a place like the Democratic Republic of Congo doesn’t impact international security,” Clooney said.

Two North Korean businessmen, Pak Hwa Song and Hwang Kil Su, opened a bank account for their company Congo Aconde and took on public construction projects including erecting statues, The Sentry wrote in a report…
